Fish Lake Valley Hot Well – Dryers, Nevada

November 6, 2020 By //  by Natiaha Murphy

One of the most enjoyable aspects of living in Nevada is being able to experience the hundreds of mineral hot springs located throughout the state, such as the Fish Lake Valley Hot Spring. While many people will prepare a luxurious bubble bath for themselves, this spring allows visitors to soak in the healing mineral waters amidst Dyer’s beautiful landscape.

Fish Lake Valley Hot Well

The Fish Lake Valley Hot Spring was actually formed from a well drilled in the 1800s. Since then, a cement hot spring tub was built to allow visitors to soak and enjoy the healing mineral water. With a panoramic view of the White Mountains and Boundary Peak, the rolling landscape makes this location breathtaking. These beautiful visuals are one of the reasons this hot spring attracts visitors from all over.

The overflow from the soaking pool goes on to the large pond downstream, which is full of goldfish and frequented by a variety of wildlife. As the water flows towards the pond, the temperature decreases enough to sustain wildlife, making this a great spot to get in some summer swimming.

Additionally, it is not uncommon to see many different species of birds hanging out at the pond downstream. It’s perfect for any nature photography enthusiasts trying to capture a few pictures.

The Hot Spring Tub

The tub at Fish Lake Valley Hot Well is large enough for 6 people to comfortably soak, while its depth of 4 ft allows for total body immersion. The tub is surrounded by a cinder block wall, giving visitors a sense of privacy while relaxing.

The hot mineral water fills the tub from a pump hose and flows out at a toasty 105°F. Because of the overflow, the water is constantly being refreshed, keeping the temperature consistent, and the water clear and clean.

Amenities and Camping

The Fish Lake Valley hot spring is popular among RV campers, hikers, and photographers. While there are no designated spots for RVs and tents, camping is permitted.

This hot spring is free and is one of the only spots in Nevada that has fire pits and BBQs. This makes it a popular location for overnight guests. There is also a vault toilet, which makes this location suitable for individuals who are not used to the lack of amenities you typically find when visiting a primitive hot spring.
