How to Say Have a Good Day in French

Like other cultures around the world, the French culture appreciates courtesy and respect. When concluding a conversation or saying goodbye to a customer, you are expected to say it pleasantly. The common phrase used to tell someone to have a good day in French is – bonne journée.

Bonne journée – This is a more pleasant way of saying goodbye. This French greeting phrase is often used when ending a conversation. You can also use this to say goodbye to a customer, a friend, neighbor, or someone you just had a business transaction with. This can be said to wish the person a pleasant day.

What’s more, telling someone to have a good day with a smile is usually considered comforting. Rather than saying goodbye, which is often casual, you can help improve interactions and ensure that the transaction or conversation ends on a good note by telling them to have a nice day.
