November 20, 2020 By //  by Sean Jarvis

Spicewood, Texas, home to music legend Willie Nelson, is famous for its southern charm and water activities such as Krause Springs. Situated 45 minutes from Austin, this family-owned historical site has 32 springs spread across the 115- acre property.

History

Founded in 1955, Krause Springs boasts pristine mineral springs, man-made pools, waterfalls, natural caves, and a fairy-inspired butterfly garden.  Privately owned by the Krause family for 65 years, this 115-acre property is a wonderful place to visit, relax, and make lasting memories.

Additionally, Krause Springs is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, giving validation to its beautiful, natural environment and historical impact.

Krause Springs Pools

At Krause Springs you will find 32 crystal clear springs located throughout the property. The water flows at 70 gallons per minute, which keeps the soaking pools clean and bacteria-free.

There are several man-made pools, complete with waterfalls and rope swings, that are nestled within the natural habitat. With towering trees, moss-covered rock walls, and grassy patches for picnics, swimming in these pools will make you feel like you been transported to a hidden paradise.

The manmade pool has a wonderful view of the surrounding area, showcasing the beautiful foliage of the forest while being shaded by trees. The water sits comfortably at 70°F, giving a perfect reprieve from the oppressing Texan summer heat.

Camping and Amenities

Primitive tent camping is available on a first-come-first-serve basis. There are 24 RV sites with water and electrical hookups, as well as a dump station. Reservations for RV camping are recommended. BBQ and burn barrels are located around the campsites for visitor use and firewood is available for purchase.
