Lava Hot Springs – Lava Hot Springs, Idaho

The Lava Hot Springs Foundation hosts a variety of mineral water retreats open to the public either year round or summer seasonally. Both hot springs destinations are located in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho.

Established in 1969, Lava Hot Springs Foundation is located 2 hours north of Salt Lake City and 3 hours south of Yellowstone National Park.

World Famous Hot Pools

The World Famous Hot Pools are open every day year round, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas days. It’s located at 430 East Main Street. The geothermal heated mineral water ranges from 102 to 112 degrees Fahrenheit.

There is no rotten egg smell because there is no sulfur in the water. The hot springs continuously flow 2.5 million gallons a day through them. There are 5 hot springs pools to choose room, with rock or gravel bottoms.

In the winter there is a snow melt system in the deck, assuring a safe environment. There is also a cold water deck shower and canopies for sun and rain protection. A gift shop is located on site selling souvenir, snacks and drinks.

Olympic Swimming Complex

The Olympic Swimming Complex features a big outdoor Olympic pool, complete with water slides and diving boards. They are only only during the summer season starting at the end of the end of May. There’s also an indoor pool that’s open year round. It’s located at 195 North Center Street, 4 blocks from the above World Famous Hot Pools.

The Olympic pools hold almost a million gallons of water, measuring 50 meters long, 8 lanes wide. The diving platforms are set above at 17 foot deep end. They feature heights of 5, 7 and 10 meters from the pool. Divers must sign an online waiver.

The Speed Water Slides have a staggering 60 foot drop, reaching speeds up to 38 miles per hour! You must be 42 inches tall to ride the slides.

Also located at the Olympic Swimming complex is a 6 lane, 25 yard indoor pool. It’s open year round and shaded keeping out the bright sun. Amenities include an Aqua Climb Wall, Portneuf Kiddie Cove, Hot Pool and diving room. You an also rent a party room.

Situated in the swimming complex, the Portneuf Kiddie Cove has an indoor kids’ pool heated to 92 degrees Fahrenheit. It slopes from zero to 18 inches deep and is full of toys, slides and sprays. There is also a 10 personal hot springs pool heated to 102 degrees Fahrenheit.
