McCredie Hot Springs Pools in Willamette National Forest

McCredie Hot Springs – Oakridge, Oregon

November 1, 2020 By //  by Natiaha Murphy

Bordered by the Willamette Pass Highway, and situated within the Willamette National Forest, lies the McCredie Hot Springs, located just 8 miles east of Oakridge. Known for its picturesque landscape and silt covered hot pools, this primitive hot springs oasis is perfect for a relaxing daytime retreat!

Hot Springs

Open year-round, and only accessible during the day, the McCredie Hot Springs in the Willamette National Forest has two wide, shallow pools averaging temperatures between 98°F and 114°F, or 36°C – 45°C. Being that the pool temperatures fluctuate, occasionally reaching as high as 130°F or 54°C, make sure to feel the water before soaking.

It should be mentioned that this hot spring is clothing optional, so be prepared to see a few naturists when visiting.

The springs are rich in silica and sulfur as well as magnesium, sodium bicarbonate, and calcium, which are known to provide numerous health benefits. The mineral-rich water is said to help with various skin conditions in addition to improving body circulation, muscular health, and arthritis. For those with aches and pain, this hot spring may be exactly what you need to refresh and rejuvenate your body!

Amenities and Accommodations

There is an enclosed, paved area that is used as a parking lot, although space is limited to 9 vehicles including room for 40ft RV. Restrooms are available on-site and picnic tables are located in the parking lot. Overnight camping is not allowed near the spring, but accommodations are available at nearby sites with the closest being the Blue Pool Campground.

Note: Please remember to follow the rule “what you pack in, you pack out” to ensure continuous use of this spring.
