Swimming, sunbathing, snorkeling, paddleboarding, surfing, running, biking, or just people watching are famous on this beach.
The beach has access to the famous Miami Beach Walk that takes you down the 2 miles of shoreline that the city is renowned for.
With a busy shore lined with restaurants and shops, it’s easy to get distracted from the beachside fun, but rest assured that there will be plenty to explore in Miami Beach South Beach.
If experiencing the famous Art-Deco buildings is part of your itinerary, then this beach is a perfect spot to take a stroll. Along the promenade that hugs the sandy coast, find swaths of pastel-colored buildings and several art galleries to pop in and out of.
Restrooms, showers, workout equipment, water gear rentals, shaded areas, walking paths, and plenty of restaurants from fine dining to beachside casual.
There are also plenty of vendors who would be more than happy to rent you out beach gear like umbrellas and chairs if you don’t want to bring your own.
Take a break from the sand and sun and explore the open-air pedestrian market at Lincoln Road Mall. This walking-only market is home to some fantastic shops and restaurants.
At night the area illuminates and draws in an energetic crowd who party through the night in the area’s bars and clubs.
For a more historical take on a tour, make sure you check out the Art Deco Walk. This tour offers an excellent introduction to the Art Deco, Mediterranean Revival, and Miami Modern styles that make the city so unique.
While certainly not for the faint of heart, you will find the World Erotic Art Museum near this beach. This museum, library, and art center is home to the extensive collection of Naomi Wilzig.
While the Art Deco styling of the buildings that run along Ocean Drive are certainly picture-worthy, beachside, you can see some colorfully painted lifeguard stations that beg to be captured in your camera roll.
