Penny Hot Springs – Colorado
Right along the Crystal River near Carbondale sits one of the best primitive hot springs in Colorado. Penny Hot Springs is a group of pools formed by rock walls where you can create your own private pool if you like. With the Colorado wilderness backdrop, it’s one of the more peaceful places to soak in the state.

During the summer and early fall season, Penny Hot Springs is a very popular destination for both locals and tourists. In the winter months you may find skiers stopping by after a day on the slopes to relax the muscles and prepare for the next day. The source of the natural mineral waters flow in at 130 degrees and cool down as they enter the pools. You can control the temperature by adjusting the rocks along the Crystal River. During spring time the snow runoff can take over the pools making them unusable.
