Riverbend Hot Springs – Truth or Consequences, New Mexico

Located in the hot mineral water mecca of Truth or Consequences, Riverbend Hot Springs boasts the honor of being the only resort nestled on the banks of the Rio Grande River. The scenic beauty while soaking riverside is sure to leave you relaxed from the moment you step in the water.

The resort is located in the historic district of town, so its surrounded by the attractions, colorful shops and tasty restaurants. Everything you need to make your vacation unforgettable is at the resort or within a moments walk. Riverbend Hot Springs has a hotel, numerous soaking pools and an on-site spa.

Both day use by the hour and overnight guests are welcome. There are both public common pools and private ones that can be reserved. It’s open to guests 12 and over.

Hot Springs Pools

Formerly Hot Springs, NM, the town of Truth or Consequences boasts some of the best hot mineral water in the world. The Native Apache and Mimbres tribes long used the region as a sacred healing place to rejuvenate their body and mind. Pools are open for day use only. They are closed, emptied and cleaned every night between 10pm and 8am.

The soaking pools do not permit kids under 12 years old in order to maintain a meditative atmosphere. The soaking areas are called Whisper Zones and boast a zen-like ambiance. Group sizes are also limited. The closing hours are actually Silent Hours to ensure a restful peace.

You can visit for just the day and choose to soak by the hour. Or escape fully and relax the night away at Riverbend Hot Springs. Turtleback Mountain and the Rio Grande River provide extraordinary scenery perfect for a romantic escape or healing retreat.

There are 8 public pools each with varying temperatures. They range from approximately 95 to 108 degrees Fahrenheit. The shaded riverside deck with tables, lounge chairs and a barrel sauna is terrific in all seasons. There’s a cold water shower and mist fans to cool off in the warmer months. The Rio Grande river is also open for swimming, generally between April and September. The hottest 3 common pools are called The Hot Minnow Baths. The other 5 are Riverside Rock Pools.

The clothing optional private pools are booked in 50 minutes sessions. You can purchase more than 1 session in a row if available. Each pool is walled on three sides, with an unobstructed view of the river on the fourth side. The public can reserve these and overnight guests receive a discount. There 3 Classic Private Pools and 4 Deluxe Private Pools. They both have a cold shower and two lounge chairs, while the Deluxe pools have a ceiling fan.

Overnight Accommodations

Riverbend Hot Springs has several rooms for rent as well as RV Spaces. All overnight guests get full access to the common hot springs pools during open hours. Private pools can be rented at a discount. All rooms are non-smoking and open to children 12 and over.

There are several hotel room types:

  • Triple Suite
  • La Casita
  • Courtyard Suites
  • Budget Double
  • Artist Rooms

All rooms have DIRECTV, heater and air conditioner, complimentary WiFi and daily housekeeping, as well as a private bathroom. Some rooms have kitchens. Small dogs of 20 lbs or less are welcome. The lobby has a free gourmet tea and coffee bar each morning.

RV Spaces – They have 30 & 50 amp electric, water and sewer hookups, as well as free wi-fi. It’s open to recreational vehicles only, no van or tent camping. The campsites can accommodate a 15-20 foot wide by 50 food long RV. Pets are welcome. All RV campers must have their own bathroom/toilet facilities.
