How To Say See You Later in French

When you’re ending a conversation or parting with someone you plan to see again, you may have reasons to bid the person farewell. From au revoir meaning goodbye to à bientôt meaning see you soon, there are several ways to bid farewell to somebody you plan to see again in the near future. The phrase used to say see you later in French is – à plus tard.

À Plus Tard – This is often considered as a formal French goodbye. This phrase is often used when parting with someone. You can say this French greeting phrase to virtually anyone, including family, friends, acquaintances, and colleagues at work.Besides, à plus tard translates to “until later” in English. Therefore, you are allowed to say this French greeting phrase when ending a conversation or parting with someone you might see later in the future; however, you don’t yet know when. By saying this phrase, you are telling the person – don’t worry, this isn’t the last time we’ll see! We’ll certainly be meeting again!

Few Examples of when to say See You Later in French
I’d better go now. See you later! – Je ferais mieux d’y aller maintenant. À plus tard!
See you later at night – A plus tard dans la nuit
See you later at 9 – A plus tard à 9 heures.
We’ll see you later for the football match – Nous vous reverrons a plus tard pour le match de football.
