Toledo Zoo and Aquarium

You wouldn’t think a town like Toledo who have one of the best collections of marine life in the United States, but they have went above and beyond in 2015 with renovations and upgrades to give Ohio an unbelievable facility for locals and tourists to visit. If you find yourself in the area, be sure to plan a day of adventure and see what makes the creatures of the sea so amazing to behold.

Toledo Zoo and Aquarium Details

You might be surprised to discover that the Toledo aquarium has over 3000 aquatic mammals in tanks totaling 178,000 gallons (over 4 times the size before the renovations). Some of the various aquatic life you will encounter are:

Stingrays
Sharks
Sea Urchins
Electric Eels
Piranhas
Seahorses
Jelly Fish
Turtles

The Toledo aquarium also added an addition to include a touch tank for people to enjoy the feel of stingrays, starfish, crabs, and smaller sharks.

Toledo Zoo and Aquarium Exhibits

  • Touch Tank – There is nothing better than getting to interact with the sea mammals. Your kids will spend hours trying to play with the stingrays and sharks (don’t worry they won’t bite)
  • Ocean Lab – One of the main exhibits allows you to meet and touch sea stars and urchins.
  • Interactive Exhibits 1. Color Changing Jellyfish. 2. Kelp Forest 3. Electric Eel Shock Simulator 4. Retractable Shark Jaw

There are also live diving shows every day at 2pm where you can see them feed the different fish.
