Scenic Forest View Overlooking the Umpqua Hot Springs

Umpqua Hot Springs – Idleyld Park, Oregon

November 1, 2020 By //  by Natiaha Murphy

At an elevation of 2,649 feet, Umpqua Hot Springs are found by hiking along the North Umpqua Trail in Idleyld Park, Oregon. Located in the Umpqua National Forest, this clothing-optional hot spring allows visitors to soak in one, or both, of the oval-shaped geothermal pools while surrounded by nature.

Umpqua Hot Springs are located near another natural attraction called Toketee Falls, so sometimes you’ll hear them referred to as Toketee Hot Springs.

Overlooking the Umpqua National Forest, the Umpqua Hot Springs is a great site for soaking and sunbathing. Only available during the day, and occasionally closed due to snow, access to this hot spring costs $5 per vehicle.

The bigger pool at Umpqua Hot Springs is enclosed by wooden fences and has a temperature of 110°F or 43°C. Meanwhile, the smaller pool, positioned a little higher up than the large pool, is slightly cooler, averaging temperatures around 112°F or 44°C. These springs are clothing-optional, so for those looking to enjoy the great outdoors naturally, this hot spring may be the perfect place to relax!

Note: This hot spring is very popular and is often occupied and heavily crowded.

Unfortunately, camping is not allowed in the immediate area of the springs. If you wish to stay overnight, the Toketee Lake Campground, 4 miles from the springs, is the nearest option. The site, which comes at a small fee,  provides guests with picnic tables, fire pits, and two vault toilets, but there is no drinking water. Please plan accordingly to ensure you have enough food and water during your stay.

Getting There

The springs can be accessed from Roseburg, Oregon via the Diamond Lake Boulevard and Highway 138.
